WORK UPDATE- Loddi, a credited name?!

Wow, I must be the worlds worst blogger! It's been over a year since I last had anything interesting to say, but for me, it's been worth the wait.

If any of you out there saw the movie Don Jon (really who hasn't?), and happened to buy the dvd or blu-ray, you may wanna check out a few of the special features. Specifically in the fovourite things section there's a great animated short called "Vinegar"; and if you stick around for the credits you may see this (to your left)!

Thanks to the people of hitRECord, I had the opportunity to create some character designs for this short film! I'm one of many, but since this is the first time I've worked on a production that saw the light of day, I'm gonna brag just a little. So as your watching, keep an eye out for these colourful guys!

Now I should probably explain what's been going on for the past year or so that started all this. I spent most of 2013 working on my graphic novel, but at one point I hit a creative slump. So I started looking for an excuse to get out of my own head and just do something different. As it turned out twitter delivered the answer...well technically it was Joseph Gordon-Levitt's twitter, but still, yay twitter! After following this very talented person, I noticed many of his tweets (if not all) kept mentioning "hitRECord". So I finally took the time to check it out, and after 2 weeks of over thinking, I signed up as Loddi!

For those of you who haven't heard about hitRECord, shame on you! Just kidding, but you should follow the link and check it out. Basically it's a production company started by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, where artists of any kind, around the globe, can contribute work for different collaboration projects. The main project is the new TV show "HitRECord on TV", airing January 18th on Pivot. It looks fantastic, so follow the link to see previews!

Back in the summer, I signed up with zero expectations because of that old saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". My intention was to draw for a variety projects just to expand my portfolio, and that would be it! Since there are so many talented people on the site, you really don't expect anyone to notice you. Well it's safe to say my work did get noticed, and I've been grateful ever since. Especially today, after seeing my characters adapted in film for the first time, and my name along side all the artists who made it look so great.

Now I know I'm going to sound like a recruiting officer or something; but to all my fellow illustrators, you need to sign up to this site. At the very least, give it some consideration. I can safely say I haven't been this inspired to draw in a very long time! HitRECord offers so many projects that you have the freedom to expand your creative range. Also, unlike most gallery-type sites, you're drawing for a purpose. Even if your ideas don't get picked, you're among people who are all putting out their best for one common goal. Plus it's just fun and inspiring to see what other creative types can come up with! Well, that's my view on it anyway.

And with that, I'll end with a big thank you to all the people who made this experience possible! I can't wait to see what comes in 2014. Until next time interweb, you stay classy!
